Petits pianos Lili Boulanger school, Saint Denis
Education
The school complex, the neighbourhood’s first project, sets the tone for its urban character. A key link in the evolving built environment, the school complex anchors the family life of residents to their territory. This territory, marked by its identifiable past, is treated with relevance and care, taking into account historical, urban and social issues.
Urbanity does not make a clean break with the past, but draws on its roots, heritage and the city’s imagination to reinvent the future. The project builds on the industrial fabric that structures it to offer a resolutely forward-looking vision for the site, identifying the school, a place of learning for future citizens, as an iconic and elegant landmark in the neighbourhood.
The environmental approach is multi-criteria. It determines functional choices, materials, the passive approach and the educational aspect dedicated to children. By allowing for modularity, and therefore mutability, the building increases its lifespan, its suitability for use and its long-term usefulness.
The wooden structure, green roofs and preservation of existing façades are concrete contributions of natural elements that have undergone little transformation and each have qualities that benefit the environment. The solutions adopted with a view to designing a facility that respects its environment.
