Mediatheque

Culture

At the heart of the major urban renovation project in the Aunettes district, the new media library combines the qualities of a user-friendly, accessible cultural facility with the capacity to have an impact on the scale of the agglomeration. With its dual vocation of local action and ambitious influence, the media library highlights the Aunettes district and its inhabitants. The pure geometry of the building, on a rectangular base, respects the overall structure of a strongly structured urban context. In contrast, two vertical flights express a dynamic diagonal that traces the two summits.

This diagonal draws attention from the access angle to the site towards the heart of the district in a new urban link, extended into the public space created. Covered in a vibrant and warm copper skin, it contrasts with the existing buildings. Its demarcation makes its identity, its landmark value. This new media library reformulates the urban landscape of the district by strengthening the links with nature. By relying on the plant heritage of the public spaces, it is inserted between the trees and invites the contemplation of nature.
