The project for these new homes fits into the existing built morphology of the Cité des Poètes, rich in its history and uniqueness, by promoting the existing plant continuities and creating a unique, generous living space, turned towards nature and quality of life.
With the use of wood in the structure and façade, the buildings are at one with the park. They are not placed on the edge but belong to the park and amplify it. The architecture is inscribed in the landscape.
Beyond the inscription in the park, building in wood structure is a committed answer for an ecological approach.
Architecture adapted to the material. With thicknesses of 13 to 16 m and frames of 4 to 5 m, the buildings are designed for wood construction.
1 m3 of new wood means 1 ton less CO2 in the atmosphere. Wooden construction favors the use of renewable energies, reduces energy consumption and favors the use of biosourced materials. It brings environmental qualities to the building in a passive way. It brings comfort and a pleasure of living that is particularly noticeable in the eyes and smell. Wood also allows for a construction site with reduced nuisances and optimized duration.
In addition to its structural virtue, the facade grid creates a visual protection device. The blades frame the bays and constitute a filter for lateral vision. They serve as frames and supports for external blinds. These are adjustable sunshades that can be adjusted to protect against views and overheating due to the sun.
Beautiful zinc roofs shelter the new houses. They are extended by awnings adjusted to the constraints of the site. The diversity of roof slopes reduces the scale of the new buildings.
